COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus City Council voted to pay more than $84,000 this week to settle with a former legislative aide of Councilmember Emmanuel Remy.
Through an attorney, Averi Townsend sent a demand letter to city council. The letter details allegations saying Remy "curses and shouts at Ms. Townsend, publicly humiliates her, falsely accuses her, and compares her unfavorably with predecessors."
The demand letter also said Townsend went on Family and Medical Leave Act, or FMLA, leave after her doctors advised her to take a leave of absence. The demand letter alleges that when she came back, the city tried to replace her and then tried to put her on administrative leave.
