Statistics can be misleading. And sometimes they can be brutally honest.
San Diego State’s women’s basketball team had one of the latter Wednesday in a 72-47 loss to Santa Clara at Viejas Arena in the Aztecs’ first of two “Field Trip” games for area elementary school kids.
The statistic: 1-for-29. That’s what the Aztecs shot from 3-point range for the game.
It’s not the only reason the Aztecs (3-2) lost. San Diego State’s defense appeared a step behind throughout a terrible first half, and the Aztecs trailed 45-17 at the break. SDSU was outrebounded 56-36. But their 3-point shooting was particularly abysmal.
