SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - A Marshfield couple had an unexpected delivery in a Buc-ee’s parking lot.
Expectant parents Nathan and Jenna Birdsong could not make it to the hospital last Friday morning, making it as far as the Buc-ee’s parking lot in Springfield. While speaking with 911 dispatchers and Mercy Hospital staff by phone, Nathan helped his wife deliver their daughter, Alaina Grace Birdsong.
Despite the chaotic circumstances, both mother and baby are in perfect health.
“It wasn’t too long,” said Nathan Birdsong. “I pulled in there, parked the truck, hopped out, got on her side, was trying to look, see if any emergency services were on the way, on the phone with 911, still with a representative from Mercy talking to me about how to deliver the baby.
