Angela Frescholtz and her daughter were in the middle of a remote workday on Oct. 13 when a storm hit Tempe. Frescholtz saw wind and rain before finding a leak in her roof. Later, a neighbor told them to evacuate as a tree had fallen on her roof, causing significant damage to her house on Rural and Elliot in Tempe.
Frescholtz, her daughter, and their dog were able to evacuate and didn’t sustain any injuries, but after weeks of assessment, a contractor quoted her $26,000 in damages to repair drywall, ceiling, flooring and parts of the exterior, not including personal belongings that were also damaged.
“You see on TV when disasters happen in other parts of the country but when it’s actually here it’s nice to know that people care and they want to help,” she said.
