Evacuated residents in Mount Dora are returning home as work to fill a ravine in their backyards has made significant progress in stabilizing the ground around the homes.
Waterman Village, a large retirement community in Mount Dora, abuts one of many wash outs that occurred following torrential downpours more than three weeks ago.
After the storms, more than 20 homes had to be evacuated as a pair of 40 ft. deep ravines cut through the city's public works property and Waterman's property.
The storms also washed out Donnelly Street in Mount Dora leading to its closure.
On Wednesday, WESH 2 flew over the scene at Waterman Village where the ravine has been almost entirely packed in with dirt trucked in to fill it.
