PLANO, Texas — Jay R. Combs has been appointed interim United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.
Combs has led the office in an acting capacity since May 24 Combs and is the chief federal law enforcement official in the Eastern District of Texas, which includes 43 counties.
The district maintains six offices across Beaumont, Lufkin, Plano, Sherman, Texarkana, and Tyler. The Eastern District employs 93 staff members, including 50 prosecutors. Combs will oversee prosecution of federal criminal cases and represent the United States in civil litigation in the district.
Before leading as Acting U.S. Attorney, Combs served as chief of the Plano Branch Office, managing daily operations. He joined the Eastern District in 2010 after
