GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The former treasurer of the Grand Rapids chapter of the Saladin Shriners was sentenced to a minimum of 45 months in prison — nearly four years — for embezzling from the organization. He must also pay $1.6 million in restitution.
Richard Ivin Williams was sentenced Wednesday in Kent County Circuit Court on two felony counts of embezzlement.
The first count, embezzlement of $100,000 or more, carries the lengthier sentence of 45 to 240 months. The second count, embezzlement of $50,000 or more but less than $100,000, carries a sentence between 45 and 180 months.
The sentences will run concurrently. The maximum prison term faced by Williams is 20 years.
