BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio —
Jennifer Parker, a 43-year-old mother, is facing three counts of child endangerment, accused of medical child abuse involving her two-year-old son.
"Meaning that she engaged in a pattern of the overutilization of inappropriate medical care and the under utilization of appropriate medical care," said assistant Butler County prosecutor Lindsay Sheehan. Advertisement
Parker is accused of behaving in a way that's often associated with what's commonly known as Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a disorder where a caregiver fabricates or induces medical conditions in a child.
Sheehan said, "Since birth, under Miss Parker's care, this child, now 2, has been hospitalized over 20 times," both in Florida, where Parker previously lived, and Ohio.
