The Braves are bringing back closer Raisel Iglesias on a one-year, $16 million contract for the 2026 season, the club announced on Wednesday.
Iglesias, entering his age-36 season, remains a formidable MLB closer. His 29 saves with the Braves last season were tied for ninth-most in baseball, while his 57 games finished led the NL. He ended the season with a 3.21 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 67 1/3 innings. But his season was a tale of two parts.
Iglesias posted a 6.00 ERA through his first 28 appearances, as a lack of command of his slider -- previously a major strength -- contributed heavily to shaky outings, four blown saves and five losses. Hitters belted five home runs on the slider during that stretch, compared to just one in all of 2024.
But from June 18 through the end of the season
