CROMWELL, Conn. (WFSB) - A 22-year-old Oregon man was sentenced to seven years in federal prison after he traveled to Connecticut to have sex with a 13-year-old he met online.

Canyon Beasley of Gresham, Oregon, got 84 months behind bars and five years of supervised release after pleading guilty to receiving child pornography.

Court records show Beasley started talking to the Connecticut teen in January 2023 through text messages and Snapchat. By July 2023, he was asking the victim to send him explicit photos and videos. He found out the victim was only 13 years old in August 2023.

For more than a year, Beasley and the teen swapped explicit images online. Then in June 2024, Beasley made the trip from Oregon to Connecticut to have sex with the child and recorded it on his phone.
