YouTuber and commentator Dhruv Rathee recently sparked a heated debate online after criticising what he described as a rising trend of excessive brutality in mainstream cinema. Sharing his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), Rathee argued that certain filmmakers were pushing graphic violence purely for shock value and commercial gain, urging the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to take the issue seriously.

In a strongly worded post, Rathee wrote that the level of gore and torture shown in some recent film promos was comparable to “watching ISIS beheadings and calling it entertainment."
