The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals late Wednesday afternoon allowed for the continued federalization of 200 Oregon National Guard troops.

The chief judge of the 9th Circuit issued an order granting the federal government’s request for an administrative hold on the part of U.S. District Judge Karin J. Immergut’s Nov. 7 injunction that had blocked the president’s federalization of the Oregon troops.

The appeals court order came amid conflicting announcements earlier in the day between Gov. Tina Kotek and the military on federal control of the troops.

The 9th Circuit’s temporary hold is intended only to “preserve the status quo” until the appeals court can consider the merits of the federal motion to put a more lasting hold on Immergut’s injunction pending the government’s full
