Kasey Siepe, a Wayne husband and father of three, died peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 16, less than one year after being diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma, according to his obituary and a GoFundMe launched for his family. He was 44 years old.
Kasey’s symptoms began last January, around the time he started a new job, the GoFundMe said. After being misdiagnosed several times, he went to another hospital, where tests showed his red blood cells were abnormal. He was immediately admitted, according to the campaign.
On Feb. 20, Kasey learned he had stage 4 lymphoma that had metastasized to his liver and bones — a discovery that “completely turned his life and his family’s life upside down,” the fundraiser said.
According to his obituary on the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home website, Kasey was captain of the Wayne Valley High School Varsity Baseball team, and later played at Greensboro College, where he studied business administration and graduated in 2002.
Kasey built a career in healthcare administration, having joined The Buckingham at Norwood, where loved ones said he was admired for his dedication and work ethic. He married his wife, Effie, in 2019, and the couple share three children together.
Kasey's obituary describes him as “quiet by nature” with a “fiery spirit” and “unwavering devotion to those he loved.”
He is survived by his wife, Effie Siepe, and his three children: Kristian, Zoi and Dylan. He is also survived by his father Kim Siepe and stepmother Lisa; sisters Keather Siepe and her partner Andy Picarelli, and Kourtney Simonson and her partner Tim; six nieces and nephews, Kyana, Meiha, Kenna, Kacer, Jeffrey and Everleigh; three uncles, Craig Siepe and his life partner Narmeen, Jeff Siepe and his wife Juani, and Keith Radhuber and his wife Janice.
He was predeceased by his mother, Karen Siepe.
