ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A man was convicted Tuesday for killing his wife in South City in 2018.
Robert Johnson, 58, was found guilty of second-degree murder. His wife, Nancy Johnson, was strangled, bruised and suffered multiple brain injuries at their home on Itaksa Street on April 2, 2018.
Nancy Johnson died at the hospital and the medical examiner ruled her death a homicide.
Robert Jonhson initially told police that his wife fell out of bed. Prosecutors say after he was confronted with the medical examiner’s findings, he admitted that the two had been drinking, got into an argument and that he knocked her to the floor multiple times.
Robert Johnson faces 10 years to life in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for January 9, 2026.
