LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Racing Louisville had a historic season, making the playoffs for the first time, and the accolades keep rolling in.
Head coach Bev Yanez was named NWSL Coach of the Year Wednesday night. She is the first American and former NWSL player to win the award.
"I'm shocked. I'm so grateful," Yanez said in her acceptance speech on ESPN2. "I'm so grateful for the team — for the team believing in me, trusting in me. I couldn't be up here without them. I couldn't be up here with the staff that's invested so much time and belief in the vision that we had this season"
Yanez led the club on its historic run this season. Racing finished seventh during the regular season, its highest-ever league standing. This was good enough for Racing to earn a playoff bid, the first in club histor
