In what is often the last piece of budget-related legislation to be approved, state lawmakers this week passed the 2025-26 appropriations for Pennsylvania’s state-subsidized land-grant universities.
The allocation, which has caused some controversy in years past, was comparatively subdued this time around. The bill totals nearly $647 million in assistance for Penn State, Pitt, Temple, Lincoln, and Penn’s veterinary and disease research program.
The line items featured a 5% increase for Lincoln as well as Penn State’s Penn College of Technology and Pitt’s rural education program — small allocations relative to the general support that the three bigger schools receive.
Penn State will get a general subsidy of $242 million, with Pitt getting $152 million and Temple $158 million. All three
