Caldwell County's jailer has passed away.
WPKY reported Willie Harper died Wednesday after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer. Harper was diagnosed over the summer.
According to a social media post from the Caldwell County Jail, Harper served the jail and community " with dedication, integrity, and a deep commitment to public service.” They said his “leadership and compassion touched the lives of staff, inmates, and countless families over the years.”
Harper was elected jailer in 2022. He is survived by his wife Candace and two sons.
