BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana’s Incurable STI Task Force has begun working on their annual report, which will include recommendations for legislators during the next session.

The work comes after recent data revealed Louisiana ranked first for chlamydia and second for gonorrhea rates nationally.

The task force examined compiled data from different states and their responses to STI rates, comparing them to Louisiana’s approach. They will use that data to help create their recommendations.

Education and testing focus areas

One area the task force may address is how school systems handle STI education for students and whether additional guidelines and resources should be added.
