As supporters chanted his name for the Karnataka Chief Minister’s post, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar dismissed any talk of personal ambition, insisting he “doesn’t run away from responsibility” and will continue to work as long as the Congress leadership wants him to.
Shivakumar, who is also the Congress state president, made the remarks amid ongoing speculation about a change in the chief ministerial post as the incumbent Karnataka government is approaching the halfway mark of its five-year term this month.
Some have referred to this period as the "November revolution", citing a rumoured power-sharing arrangement between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar.
