CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cuyahoga County judge was reassigned from a case Monday amid allegations that she improperly investigated a woman she had sent to prison for Cleveland street takeovers.
The case involves Ashlyn Rogers, 23, of Port Clinton, who is serving an 18-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to fourth- and fifth-degree felonies for helping direct seven takeovers in Cleveland last year.
Rogers had sought early judicial release, and county prosecutors did not oppose her request.
Common Pleas Judge Kira Krivosh, who sentenced Rogers in July, was expected to rule on the release. Instead, the court’s administrative judge, Brendan Sheehan, reassigned the case to Judge David Matia, citing “good cause shown” in a journal entry.
Matia had a hearing on the case Wednesday. Defens
