Fronted by Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar, the new film Dhurandhar reportedly draws inspiration from the long-running Pakistani anti-crime crackdown known as Operation Lyari, a multifaceted security campaign aimed at dismantling powerful criminal syndicates and restoring law and order to the Lyari Town area of Karachi. Lyari, one of the city’s oldest and most densely populated settlements, had historically transformed from a stronghold of political parties, particularly the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), into a notorious “no-go zone" ruled by heavily armed gangs involved in drug trafficking, extortion, and targeted killings.
