MOORHEAD, MN - Year after year, top tier high school hockey players elect to forego playing for their hometown and choose juniors as their path for development. In Moorhead's case, Junior Zac Zimmerman and seniors Brandon Mickelson and Tyden Bergeson were all given that option.
But the trio has decided to stay home and suit up for the Spuds
"Playing with my buddies for one more year and defending the state championship would be really nice. So that was a big deal about it," said Zimmerman.
"You never get this time back. You know, with your friends and like to be able to be a leader, like with the community as well, is just super special," said Bergeson.
The joy of playing community based hockey was a sentiment echoed by all three.
