SPOKANE, Wash. – Two Gonzaga University students appeared in court following a firework explosion in downtown Spokane that injured two people earlier this month. The incident occurred on November 8, under the Wall Street viaduct.
Prosecutors revealed that a firework landed in a 15-year-old girl's lap. A homeless man, referred to as Mr. Best, tried to save her but suffered severe injuries in the process.
"This explosive device, it landed in a minor's lap… and the alleged victim in this case, Mr. Best, he was able to get this device and throw it out of the way, which unfortunately it exploded while in his hand, causing very graphic injuries," said a spokesperson.
Theodore Weymiller and Samuel Hopper, both 21, faced a judge on Wednesday for their first court appearance. Surveillance footag
