Goal-hungry Melbourne City have eased towards booking a home quarter-final in the Women's Asian Champions League with Holly McNamara's strike in the first 36 seconds setting them on their way to a 3-0 win over Ho Chi Minh City in the Vietnamese side's home stadium.

The largely comfortable win, initiated by them scoring twice in the opening three-and-a-half minutes, meant Melbourne completed their three-match group campaign in Vietnam with 15 goals.

Their reward will be a home last-eight tie next March as they look to go one better than the inaugural continental event when they lost May's final in a penalty shoot-out to Wuhan Jiangda in China.
