The Telangana Governor has granted consent for the prosecution of BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) in the Formula E race case.

The case relates to alleged “unauthorised” and “procedurally violated” payments of around Rs 55 crore, much of it in foreign currency, made during the previous BRS government. The payments were linked to the Formula E race planned for February 2024, which was later cancelled after the Congress government took office in December 2023. Hyderabad had earlier hosted the race in February 2023.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had written to the Governor on September 9 seeking approval to move forward against KTR.

After nearly ten weeks, the sanction has now been given, allowing the probe to proceed.
