Sabarimala, Kerala: The spot-booking facility at Pampa, Erumeli and Chengannur has been temporarily suspended as authorities struggle to manage the overwhelming rush of Sabarimala pilgrims.

According to media reports, the restriction will remain in place until November 24, while spot booking will be capped at 5,000 devotees. Booking facilities currently remain available only at Nilakkal and Vandiperiyar.

The move comes as Sabarimala witnessed an unprecedented surge, with nearly two lakh pilgrims arriving within 48 hours of the temple opening for the annual Mandala-Makaravilakku season. Officials from the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) and police have been facing immense pressure to regulate the heavy footfall, which included children and elderly devotees.
