Animal Justice Party MP Georgie Purcell has alleged that she has been sexually harassed by another person in parliament during her time on Victoria's crossbench.

The allegations were made during a speech in parliament, in which the first-term MP detailed earlier experiences of sexual harassment while working as a parliamentary staffer and in the hospitality and legal sectors.

"I thought I would be safe from this treatment when I became a member of parliament as well, but that just has not been the reality and that has not been the case," she said.

Ms Purcell suggested she had reported the sexual harassment in parliament but provided no further details.
