MURRAY – The Calloway County Fiscal Court approved the sheriff’s annual budget and a bid for a culvert replacement during its monthly meeting Wednesday, as well as hearing an update on 911 upgrades.
The court voted to approve a $415,389 bid from Youngblood Excavating to replace a culvert on Doores Trail damaged last April by flooding, as well as to build a bridge over it. Judge-Executive Kenny Imes said the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is expected to reimburse the county for replacing the culvert, but it remains to be seen whether or not the cost of bridge construction can be covered. Although the Youngblood bid came in at roughly $40,000 more than the only other bid, that bid only covered the culvert. Jim Smith Contracting submitted a base bid of $375,000.
