The Roswell Police Department (RPD) will be moving a significant portion of its operations into the building vacated earlier this month by the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) after the city council approved most of the lease on Tuesday during a special meeting, after two meetings of council committees.

This item was discussed by the council, and during the earlier Legal and Public Safety Committee meetings. Councilors ultimately approved the agreement by a vote of 9 to 0, with Councilor Will Cavin recusing himself because his son, Sgt. Chance Cavin, works for the department.

RPD officers have never truly had a building constructed “to their needs,” said City Councilor Cristina Arnold.
