A seven year old child was left with a traumatic brain injury after being hit by an electric bike in Middlesbrough. The rider, Michael Hill, who had been banned from driving, was racing around the town on his dark electric bike, accompanied by his friend Lee Oliver, who was riding a moped and wearing a balaclava.
The incident happened when the pair were riding down a residential street and Hill collided with the young child who had stepped onto the road. Instead of stopping to help the unconscious child, who was in a critical condition, both Hill and Oliver cowardly fled the scene.
A court heard that the boy, who suffered a traumatic brain injury, was airlifted to Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) for treatment. The child, now dependent on a wheelchair, remains in h
