HUNTINGTON — The No. 12-ranked Marshall University men’s soccer team begins its journey in the NCAA tournament on Thursday with a home matchup with Cleveland State.

The unseeded Thundering Herd joins West Virginia, UCF and Kentucky as tournament qualifiers from the Sun Belt.

“I think we can beat anyone,” Marshall’s Carl Romberg said following the tournament selection show on Monday. “We knew it would be a tough one. We have to take it one at a time. Looking to the game on Thursday and then going step by step, if we’re playing our best, I’ll pick us to win.”

Romberg has been phenomenal to close the regular season. An Olimpico goal on Sunday in the Sun Belt tournament championship game gave him four goals and three assists in the last four matches.
