A 44-year-old woman has been fined almost $2,000 after she tried to insert a bag of methylamphetamine into her dog's anus.

The RSPCA said WA Police stopped the woman's vehicle after officers observed it "driving rapidly" out of a car park in February 2024.

Today Joondalup Magistrates Court heard the woman from Girrawheen was told that she and her car would be searched.

The court heard she was then seen trying to insert two grams of methylamphetamine stored inside a small package into her miniature dachshund's anus.

A cruelty report was then filed to the RSPCA by police.

Inspectors also seized the pet, named Busta.
