The Detroit Tree Lighting event is taking place from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Campus Martius on Friday, Nov. 21.

The event is expected to reach capacity before 7 p.m. To see the tree lighting up close, event goers should arrive before then.

All children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult to enter the event, according to Detroit police.

Food trucks, shopping opportunities and live performances are planned for Friday, Nov. 21.
