Police exposed a major illegal cattle trafficking operation late Tuesday night, arresting three accused while eleven others fled the scene.
According to reports, traffickers attempted to move more than 190 cattle through State Highway-10 near Kutra bus stand, transporting them from Bamra block’s Jharia Bahal area towards Khatakur Bahal. The cattle were being smuggled to Jharkhand using trucks, vans, and pickup containers.
Acting on a tip-off, ASI Asu Mahanti led an eight-member police team in a high-risk operation. The officers worked tirelessly through the night, intercepting the traffickers and successfully capturing three of them. Locals praised Mahanti’s courage and dedication, noting that he risked his life to stop the illegal trade.
