ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The driver involved in an overnight Metro East pursuit that resulted in a crash in St. Louis has died at the hospital.
According to police, the pursuit that began in Metro East ended around 3 a.m.
SLMPD says the incident started with a traffic stop for a suspected DUI in Washington Park.
The suspect driver of a Lincoln MKS sedan was pursued by Washington Park police until officers with the Sauget, Illinois Police Department took over.
The driver drove onto the Eads Bridge and lost control and crashed into a traffic light and concrete structure at 6th and Washington. The car then caught fire.
The driver, identified as 26-year-old Shontez Campbell of Centreville, Illinois, was unconscious and had to be pulled from the car by officers. Police say he was t
