Almost a quarter of the City of Cockburn ’s planned surplus for the financial year has already been wiped out by unexpected costs - which include beach toilet cleaning, replacing damaged signs and hiring consultants.
Cockburn’s annual budget for 2025-26 was finalised in June and included a planned surplus of $446,804, but its council was last week asked to revise that figure back to $344,312 at last week’s council meeting.
The cost of cleaners and maintenance for the new Omeo Park toilet block accounts for $35,000 of the $102,000 required accounting fix.
