Woman charged with arson after house fire with children inside at Deykin Avenue, Witton

A woman has appeared in court charged with arson following a fire at a Birmingham home where four children were inside.

Safoora Bi, aged 38, of Deykin Avenue in Witton was charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered, following a blaze at a property in the road on Monday (November 17).

Police and the ambulance service confirmed four children were inside the property at the time of the fire which took place after 4pm.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of a property fire on Deykin Avenue in Witton at 5.04pm on Monday.

“We sent an ambulance to the scene. Four children – a girl and three boys - were assessed by ambulance staff
