A house fire in Brampton, Ontario, has resulted in two fatalities and left four others, including a child, in critical condition. The incident occurred early Thursday morning at a semi-detached home on Banas Way, near the intersection of McLaughlin Road and Remembrance Road. Emergency services received multiple 911 calls about the fire around 2:15 a.m. Upon arrival, first responders confirmed that two adults had died at the scene. Paramedics transported three adults and one child to the hospital, where they are being treated for life-threatening injuries. Brampton Fire Chief Andy Glynn reported that several individuals remain unaccounted for. He stated, "There are some individuals still unaccounted for that we’re trying to determine the location of. Because we haven’t been able to gain access to the unit, we don’t know if they are inside or away." The fire was significant enough to hinder firefighters' access to the building. Chief Glynn noted, "The amount of fire involvement in this structure was significant, which prevented our crews from fully accessing the building." Images from the scene show extensive damage, including a destroyed roof. Peel Regional Police confirmed that multiple homes in the vicinity were evacuated as a precaution. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, but it is too early to determine if any foul play was involved. Peel police spokesperson Tyler Bell-Morena stated, "It is just too early to tell at this point if there’s anything suspicious or criminal in nature here... but our primary focus right now is getting everybody accounted for." As the investigation continues, officials are urging the public to avoid the area. The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal is leading the investigation, with assistance from local police. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
