An Evansville man tried it and wound up with criminal charges instead.

Evansville Police teamed up with asset protection squads across several stores to crack down on holiday shopping thefts.

That included a man who allegedly tried to steal Pokémon cards and basketball cards.

The team effort resulted in several custodial arrests, along with warrants and narcotics.
