Eight new cases of potentially deadly infant botulism have been added since November 14 to an investigation on a multistate outbreak linked to baby formula , the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported on Wednesday.

The number of suspected or confirmed cases has risen to 31 across 15 states.

The link between the ByHeart Whole Nutrition infant formula, voluntarily recalled by the company, and the outbreak is being investigated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the CDC, the California Department of Public Health’s Infant Botulism Treatment and Prevention Program (IBTPP), and public health officials in several states.
