MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Pharmaceutical company Abbott will be acquiring Madison-based cancer research company Exact Sciences in a $21 billion deal, the companies announced Thursday.
The two companies will work towards expanding access to life-changing diagnostics and detect and treat cancer at its earliest, most treatable stages.
Exact Sciences focuses on early cancer detection and supporting personalized treatments. The company is a leader in cancer screening, precision oncology and genetic testing, helping to detect cancer earlier, guide treatment decisions and monitor to reoccurrence.
According to the terms of the agreement, Illinois-based Abbott will acquire all outstanding shares of Exact Sciences for $105 per common share, at a total equity value of $21 billion and a value of $23 b
