Hammond mayor calls deployment of Indiana Guard for political purposes a disgrace

Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr., who is a Navy veteran, said early Thursday he finds it disgraceful that Gov. Mike Braun is uprooting and deploying 300 Indiana National Guard soldiers to Washington, D.C., for what McDermott characterized as political purposes.
