Three people, including a married couple from New Windsor, and two corporations that the couple oversees, have been indicted in connection with an alleged $3.5 million Medicaid fraud case.
Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler and New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli jointly announced the indictments earlier in November.
According to Hoovler, between Feb. 1, 2020, and Sept. 30, 2024, Rohail Raja and Sharma Alam, both 45 and of the Town of New Windsor, who are married to each other, stole over $3.5 million from the state Department of Health, which runs the state's Medicaid program.
