Out-of-town veterans praise service to nation, blast policies that hurt Americans

Military veterans shared their experiences at a special post-Veterans Day rally held on the steps of the Boone County Courthouse on Saturday.

“We wanted to thank veterans, both past and present, and all of the sacrifices they have made in defense of our country,” said organizer Sarah Garrison, co-founder of Boone County Resistance, who lives in the county. “At the same time, we wanted to put the spotlight on how budget cuts and other ill-advised federal and state policies and initiatives threaten not only veterans’ services but affect our nation as whole.”
