A body has been found during river searches at Gloucester Docks after a man entered the water this morning.

A police helicopter and rescue crews searched the area along the River Sever, following concern for the welfare of a man at around 10.20am today (Thursday, November 20).

Gloucestershire Police said a man entered the water near the Old Prison and did not resurface.

The force has now confirmed that a body has been recovered from the river near Hempsted.

Formal identification has not yet taken place but the death is not being treated as suspicious.
