Edinburgh’s Christmas Market is an annual Marmite topic for locals - you either love it or you hate it.

Some people enjoy the buzz you get from the crowd, the smell of mulled wine and bratwurst in the air; whereas others shirk at the price of a simple bauble or the droves of tourists which descend en masse each year.

That was certainly the case for capital couple, Sara Stone, 29, and Scott Hartles, 32, who have come to the market on and off for the last few years.

Originally from Blackpool, Sara professed her love for the Market - stating she often drags begrudging boyfriend, Scott, on her birthday.

“I love the Christmas Market, it is always during my birthday, so he can’t say no to coming,” she said. “It feels so Christmassy.

“I love all the rides and the wine is another highlight.
