Cardiff council leader secures top spot in bid to become Senedd member

Huw Thomas, the leader of Cardiff council , has secured the best chance of being elected to the Senedd after an internal party selection. The Labour council leader wants to be a Senedd member for the party and has got top spot on Labour's list in the Caerdydd Penarth constituency , putting him in the best position to be elected for the party.

Each party is selecting its candidates for the Senedd election in slightly different ways. Within Labour , candidates had to apply, and then secure votes from Labour members to determine where on the all-important ranked list they were.
