Fox News has promoted one of its rising star reporters, naming Bill Melugin congressional correspondent.

Melugin had been the channel’s Los Angeles correspondent, where he frequently covered issues related to immigration and border security. he also, of course, covered the devastating wildfires that ripped across southern California earlier this year.

“If I grew up in Minnesota and had to come out here to cover the fires, I’d have no idea what I was doing or where I should be going,” Melugin, who was raised in Orange County, told The Hollywood Reporter at the time . “But if you grew up in SoCal, you grew up with fire. When I was 3 years old, we had the Laguna Canyon Fire in ’93 that almost burned our house down.”
