A collection of videos, audio recordings and investigative notes trace the dawning of a terrible realization — that an innocent man had spent 15 years behind bars for a violent Clarendon County robbery while the true perpetrators went free.

Michael Pearson was convicted and sentenced to 60 years in prison after Edward “Slick” Gibbons was beaten and robbed in his home garage near Manning in 2010. In August, Pearson — who has maintained his innocence since he was first arrested — was released from prison as a case for his exoneration reached a fever pitch .

But, despite mounting evidence against two other men, no arrests have been made in the case since his release. The Post and Courier is not naming those men because they have not been charged.
