Drivers have been urged to pack nine essential items in their car as amber warnings for snow and ice come into force across Britain.

The Met Office has warned that "significant" amounts of snow could fall in parts of the UK over the next 48 hours, with as much as eight inches (20cm) forecast in North York Moors and parts of the Yorkshire Wolds, where an amber weather warning is in place beginning this evening.
